Toshiba is gearing up for some new technology in its newly released SD cards with TransferJet technology. On an official statement from Toshiba, their newest line of SD cards will enable users to see a preview of its content without even inserting it on a phone or memory card reader.
What this tech entails is that a user can see what is stored inside the memory card without even touching it.
TransferJet technology has been on the market for quite some time already and was first developed by Sony way back in2008 together with Olympus and Toshiba. This tech works as a medium for two devices to exchange data without establishing an analog connection, a tech that resembles that of NFC or Near Field Communication.
However, with NFC connection it only enables two devices to establish connection with each other, with TransferJet it can enable users to transfer data between the engaged devices and it can do it with transfer speeds of up to 375 Mb/s, which means a full HD movie can be transferred between the devices in less than a minute.
On the other hand, Toshiba's newest update to its TransferJet technology is simply mind blowing. Based on its initial preview, an SD card fitted with the newest technology can communicate with a smartphone device without establishing a physical connection.
All the user needs to do is install Toshiba's required app and put the SD card within its proximity, the app will then show 16 random thumbnails of images stored inside the SD card.
Tech experts however has yet to see the full potential of Toshiba's new technology, they argue that Toshiba has not set a practical application for its newly developed tech. However this criticism has not daunted Toshiba's plans to release it on the market. No pricing has been announced yet but according to Toshiba it would cost just a bit more compared to an average SD card.
