Chan felt remorse at his crimes and confessed voluntarily to all the offenses. As a result, the court authorities just sentenced him to six months in prison whereas the maximum sentence for the crime was three years imprisonment. Chan said that he deserved to be jailed as he had violated the laws of the land. He also added that after he is released from prison, he would turn over a new leaf and wouldn't engage in unlawful activities ever again.

Jaycee Chan's father has been an anti-drug ambassador six years previously and is also an integral part of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, which is the nation's foremost political advisory committee. When the case came to light, then Jackie made it clear that he wouldn't use his political connections to secure a release for his son and on the contrary he would let the law take its own course.
