Phoenix Suns' Markieff Morris is the subject of trade rumors once again, this time linking him to the Houston Rockets for a possible swap with Terrence Jones and Corey Brewer as the Arizona ball club is said to be "finally prepared" to move their starting power forward.
ESPN's Marc Stein recently reported that the Rockets are looking to upgrade via the trade market after the team's poor 10-11 start, and the 26-year-old stretch four is "on their list of targets" as the Suns are allegedly "prepared to finally move Morris".
A DNP during the team's 95-93 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday is said to be a clear indication that the 13th overall pick of the 2011 draft is currently available to any takers.
Morris is a valuable trade chip as he still generates decent numbers considering that he is a third or fourth option in the Suns' offense. The former Kansas standout is currently averaging 11.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in a little over than 25 minutes of playing time per night, which could be attractive to some teams in need of depth at the no. 4 spot.
Bleacher Report suggested a deal to the Rockets in exchange for Jones and Brewer or Trevor Ariza.
Since, for Houston, dealing Ariza is close to impossible, it is Brewer who will most likely be included. The report clarified, though, that the latter "can't be dealt until Jan. 14" because he was the team's Early Bird free agent signing last offseason.
The report also mentioned that Morris "would be an excellent fit next to Dwight Howard, spacing out the court and creating his own offense when James Harden needs a break from carrying such a large portion of the scoring burden".
However, this rumor will remain a rumor until Brewer becomes available in mid-January.
