"The Divergent Series: Allegiant" star Shailene Woodley was recently cast in HBO's upcoming series "Big Little Lies."

According to Variety, Woodley will be joined by some of the biggest names in Hollywood like Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman.

"Big Little Lies" will be helmed by David E. Kelly, and will be based upon the book of the same name.

Meanwhile, an insider revealed that Woodley has been in talks to appear in the series for a while now.

In "Big Little Lies," Woodley will play the role of a single mother. Although HBO hasn't released an official statement yet about Woodley's casting, Kidman confirmed the new while at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit in New Delhi.

Twitter user @lfakier wrote, "Nicole Kidman confirming Shailene Woodley for Big Little Lies at the HT Leadership Summit."

"Begin a limited series which is an HBO series... I'm producing that and starring in that with Reese Witherspoon and a young actress Shailene Woodley," Kidman said at that time.

Witherspoon will also act as an executive producer alongside Bruna Papandrea of Pacific Standards and Per Saari of Blossom Films.

In other news, Bustle recently explained why fans will fall in love with the new HBO show that will premiere next year.

"With three amazing actresses anchoring the project, 'Big Little Lies' is totally destined to be your new favorite HBO show. I mean, with so many talented women on board it is basically a guarantee," the publication wrote.

"Big Little Lies" is slated to hit HBO in 2016.
