Sony has launched a standalone PlayStation Messages app for iOS and Android devices, which enable users to see who is online and lets them send messages.

The messaging app displays the full friends list, sorted either alphabetically or by online status. Additionally, it will show any Favorite Groups the users have added to message several people at once. They can swap text or voice messages, and even amuse their friends with stickers and attachments.

To use Facebook, the PlayStation Messages app can be accessed from inside the primary PlayStation App, proving to be especially handy when user cannot afford to throw away precious seconds from their gaming console.

However, PlayStation Messages app lacks the functionality to make voice or video calls for now.

The original PlayStation app has also been updated. Users can now follow verified accounts and keep tabs on their activities. Users will be able to know the latest update with what some of their favorite personas are playing and how their trophy completion progress is going.

The PlayStation Messages app is now available for Android and iOS devices. A user will need a PSN account to access the app's full features, PCMag reported.

On the other hand, the Japanese multinational company also gave a major discount for its PlayStation Now game-streaming platform. For a limited time, those who sign up for PlayStation Now will pay $99.99 annually. It usually costs $20 per month or $240 a year.
