It is now official that Cyanogen ROM is in development for the OnePlus 2 smartphone.

The previous version of the smartphone, Orginal OnePlus that was launched with pre-installed Cyanogen OS, was the biggest and unique selling point of the device; however, the latest lineup of OnePlus X and OnePlus 2 run OnePlus' own Oxygen OS, based on two versions - Android OS Lollipop 5.1.1 and Android OS Marshmallow 6.0.

With the official listing of OnePlus 2 on CyanogenMod's official GitHub repository, the users are quite happy as they would be receiving proper support from the community. Even though in the past, third party CyanogenMod ROM has been created for OnePlus 2, they had their own drawbacks due to the lack of proper support. It is known that with proper support and development, the CyanogenMod ROM is designed to increase reliability and performance as compared to Android-based ROMs released by the likes of Google, HTC, T-Mobile, etc.

Although CyanogenMod 12.1 and Cyanogen 13 are listed on the website, the users cannot download them yet. This also gives the hint of an official launch of the CyanogenMod's for the OnePlus 2 device pretty shortly.

The CyanogenMod also offers wide range of features and enhancements which the users could avail, and that are not currently found on the Android-based ROMs. Lately, OnePlus is seen as the dark horse in the Smartphone ether, and very soon, OnePlus might capture the smartphone market share, impacting a large ring of eminent companies like Samsung, Apple, Lenovo, Xiaomi and others.
