The Android Wear smartwatch market is already crowded with flagship devices from Motorola, Asus, Huawei and even notable Swiss clock maker TAG Heuer. However, this did not deter smartwatch manufacturer Fossil to release its own device. Dubbed the Fossil Q Founder, the smartwatch was recently released on the Google Store.

The Fossil Q Founder was announced around the end of October. The Q Founder is a collaboration between Fossil and chipmaker Intel.

The latest flagship smartwatch from Fossil sports a round face which makes it look more like a traditional watch rather than a device taken straight out of a science fiction movie. The smartwatch comes with a leather band. However, buyers have the option to choose a stainless steel band which adds not only durability but a more traditional feel to it.

The Q Founder sports a 1.5-inch display and has a pixel density of 240pixels per inch. It packs 1GB of internal memory which is significantly higher compared to the 512MB RAM of the second generation Moto 360 and the Huawei Watch. The Fossil Q Founder also has 4GB of internal storage and ships with IP67 water resistance certification.

According to Engadget, the Fossil Q Founder has a battery that can last for a full day on a single charge. The smartwatch has an accelerometer, ambient light sensor and gyroscope.

Despite running on the Android Wear platform, the Q Founder supports devices running on iOS 8 or higher operating systems. It is also compatible with smartphones running on the Android 4.4 operating system or later versions.

The Fossil Q Founder is currently available from Google for $275 for the model with a leather band. The model that sports a stainless steel band costs $295, according to Android Headlines.
