Millions of "Gravity Falls" fans were disappointed when creator Alex Hirsch confirmed that the series will be ending after two seasons. Turns out, there is another bad news coming the viewers way: a major character from the Pines family will die in the season 2 finale, "Weirdmageddon 3."
Back in February, Hirsch, himself revealed that at least one character will not survive this season. Although he refused to reveal further details on his/her identity, Movie Pilot speculated that it will be one of the Pines family.
The outlet pointed out that the title card in season 2 episode 18 "Weirdmageddon Part 1" read "JUDYLWB IDOOV" which translates to:
"GAME IS OVER, AND I WON
NOW IT'S TIME TO START THE FUN
I ALWAYS LOVE CORRUPTING LIVES
NOW LET'S SEE WHICH PINES SURVIVES"
The outlet further speculated that there is a huge chance that it would be Ford or Grunkle Stan who will be killed off. Given that Dipper and Madel are the protagonists of the story, it was highly unlikely that they would not survive. Plus, there is also something unsettling about killing off young characters.
As Ford was only introduced in the latter half of the second season, the author held that his death would not be too heartbreaking. On the other hand, some claimed that if someone would die in the finale, it was probably Grunkle Stan. Fans have long been working on this theory given how Hirsch has been dropping hints about his imminent death.
The series finale of "Gravity Falls" season 2 titled "Weirdmageddon 3" airs early 2016.
