Set six years before everything that takes place in "Breaking Bad," "Breaking Call Saul" introduced to the world the character of the dirty lawyer Saul Goodman played by "Fargo" star Bob Odenkirk.

One character from "Breaking Bad" who is confirmed to appear on the first season of "Better Call Saul" is hitman Mike Ehrmantraut to be played by Jonathan Banks.

It appears that both Gilligan and Gould do not want to force "Breaking Bad" characters into the prequel. According to Gould, everything else about "Better Call Saul" is "on the table."

While he wants everything about "Better Call Saul" to be "proper and organic," Gilligan said he would like to see all "Breaking Bad" characters to be in the prequel eventually without making their introductions appear to be a "stunt."

In addition, Gilligan pointed out that it would be awkward for to have Aaron Paul, 35, play a younger version of his character, who is in junior high school.

Other characters confirmed to be in "Better Call Saul" are Saul's brother Chuck played by Michael McKeon, Nacho Verga played by Michael Mando, Kim Wexler played by Rhea Seehorn and Howard Hamlin played by Patrick Fabian.
