LG discreetly showed off its new "Active Bending" curved edge OLED display for smartphones, and a new 8K resolution TV at the Consumer Electronics Show 2015 in Las Vegas.

The South Korean tech giant only showed the new smartphone with the curved edge display to invited guests and potential clients at a "private showroom" in the Bellagio hotel. Gforgames reports that Xiaomi, the world's third largest smartphone maker, might be the first firm to utilize the "Active Bending" display for their products, according to a December rumor.

The privately showcased curved edge phone was 6 inches diagonally in size, but with a lower HD resolution than industry standards.

Another highlight for Seoul-based tech firm is its massive 98-inch 8K TV, which has a pixel resolution of 7680x4320, double the resolution of the rising 4K UHD (Ultra High Definition).

Hot Hardware notes that LG 8K TVs are most likely out of reach for majority of the market as 4K TVs are not yet well received by consumers. However, the difference between the standard 1080p HD resolution and the LG 8K is significantly noticeable, but it does not mean that it will be the first choice for buyers.

Gizmodo reported that the LG 8K TV in display was "absolutely insane." The LG TVs were powered by a new "Color Prime" technology, which boasts more dynamic colors with the LED screen. The report also noted that the 8K technology is "amazing," but is still "years off from being anywhere." It also said that LG did not disclose even an estimated price for its 8K TV.
