Valve has announced its plan last week to reveal a virtual reality hardware, which they called "SteamVR" during that time at GDC. However, today, HTC has pre-empted Valve by unveiling Vive, which is a one-of-a-kind headset designed, thanks to the joint effort of the two companies.

The most awaited headset is said to be launched this year, according to The Verge. The developers are preparing for it this quarter and confirmed that the headset will be shown at GDC, Attack of the Fanboy reported.

The headset is equipped with two 1200×1800 90 FPS displays, which according to HTC, it will get rid of jitters. There is also a jack where you can plug in your own headphones.

It has the power to monitor motions by a combination of accelerometer, gyrosensor, as well as laser position sensor with an accuracy of 1/10th of a degree. You also have the option to couple it with a pair of Steam VR base stations if you want to monitor your physical location of up to 15 by 15 feet.

More so, HTC also developed an ergonomically designed controllers with motion tracking feature, which is perfect not only for games but also for other stuff. Google and Lionsgate were name dropped as well as partners, Kotaku reported.

According to HTC, the headset is the product of a "strategic partnership", which involves itself and Valve. However, Valve has not given any words yet. So, there's a big possibility that Valve has also worked with other manufacturers to come up with an array of SteamVR devices.
