Tesla might be facing a new rival in the electric car industry as General Motors reveals its Chevrolet "Bolt" EV during the 2015 Detroit Auto Show.
The new Chevy Bolt will rival the Tesla Model S, which has the new battery swapping technology, in terms of driving range.
According to LA Times, the Chevy Bolt clocks at 200 miles, which closely follows the Model S at 265 miles.
One advantage the Chevy Bolt has is its price tag. While the Model S costs around $80,000, the Chevrolet EV will only cost around $30,000 after incentives from the government, according to GM executives.
TrueCar Inc president John Krafcik told LA Times that the Chevy Bolt is a "killer combination" and that GM may sell 100,000 units of the electronic vehicle annually.
The Chevy Bolt will be sold in all of the 50 states, making the Chevrolet EV the first fully-electric car to be sold country-wide as its Spark EV was sold in only two states, Transport Evolved.
The five-door hatchback, which will most likely go on sale in late 2016 or in 2017, also beats the "double range" Nissan LEAF, which is expected to have around 150 miles per charge after the battery upgrade.
The Chevy Bolt will also feature the Connect phone App, which allows the car to park itself even without the driver's assistance; it can also drive by itself to the owner's location.
GM unveiled the Chevrolet EV alongside a revamped version of the 2016 Volt, which is the second generation of the hybrid car launched in 2010. The 2016 Volt is expected to run 50 miles on its electric battery before it runs on gasoline.
