Chinese actor Jaycee Chan wrote a three-page letter addressed to his mother, Joan Lin, in which he blamed his famous father, kung fu actor Jackie Chan, as the reason why he ended up in jail.

The 32-year-old actor is in prison after he pleaded guilty to charges of taking drugs and persuading others to do so in his presence.

The letter, which was shown to the Chinese media, was sent to Lin as the actor enjoys a closer relationship with his mother than the elder Chan.

In his note, he detailed how growing up in a celebrity family has taught him to live a carefree life. The younger Chan also resented that his father never paid that much attention to him even as he is growing up to be a man and shared no plans for his future while at the same time feeling a lot of "invisible pressure."

Because of this, the young actor took drugs whenever he felt lonely. He confessed this in the letter he wrote his mother along with his apologies and regrets for becoming mixed up with the wrong crowd that led him to make huge mistakes, in which the consequences he is paying for now.

On Dec. 3, 2014, the actor celebrated his 32nd birthday in prison. His parents were not there to celebrate his day, but instead sent greetings through legal counsels. Both Chan and Lin hoped that the time away would help their son reflect on his mistakes and where his life is headed. But at the same time, the couple sent their love to the younger Chan.

Since he was imprisoned five months ago, both Jackie Chan and Joan Lin only saw their son once via television. After watching their son's trial via Internet live stream, the 60-year-old actor could not hide his anger and disappointment over his son.

Chan concluded his letter with a promise that he would shun away the bad habits and do his best to change for the better. Since being in prison, the actor has already penned some new songs and read around a hundred books to while away the time, said his manager.

The actor is set to be released from prison in February.
