The biggest auto manufacturer in Europe, Volkswagen, said that they understand carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions which is not as bad as feared.
Volkswagen said that, by understanding CO2 emissions, they provided relief to auto manufacturers as Europe's biggest automaker begins to fight diesel emissions scandal. This emissions scandal affected over 11 million vehicles, Reuters reported.
Volkswagen also said that the company understands carbon dioxide emissions and fuel consumption on about 36,000 vehicles, the report said. Moreover, the auto company said that they found no proof of unlawful changing of carbon dioxide emissions, as they remain positive.
Analyst Arndt Ellinghorst said that they remain to be positive and suspect that the "previously guided for negative earnings impact of 2 billion euros will in fact end up being materially lower," according to the report.
In addition, the German auto giant said that it had understood carbon dioxide emissions on diesel vehicles as well as petrol vehicles.
Some analysts said that the emissions scandal could have impact on the company's sales. This is based on drivers being worried about fuel economy.
It can be noted that Europe's auto giant is to provide updates on the pollution-cheating scandal as it invites concerns to "inform the public of the current state of the investigations into the diesel affair and the company's strategic re-orientation," as indicated in the auto company's invitation, Yahoo News reported.
