On Tuesday, the TopRank CEO Bob Arum told Yahoo Sports that he had words from Manny Pacquiao, officially agreeing to the terms set for his fight against Floyd Mayweather.
Freddie Roach, Pacquiao's coach, told the LA Times on Jan. 12, Tuesday, that the most probable fight date is May 2, as this is what was imposed by Mayweather.
While the date is still tentative until now, Arum revealed that negotiations are going on as to both fighter's "pay". As of now, the proposed terms have indicated that Pacquiao is to receive 40% of the profits earned from the battle leaving the remaining 60% to Mayweather. While this seems like a good catch for Mayweather, who has imposed personal "terms", according to the TopRank CEO, Pacquiao is yet to confirm his approval on the matter.
Pacquiao was last seen in action against Chris Algieri in Macau, China, where he easily defeated the New York native through a unanimous decision.
Mayweather, on the other hand, hasn't been in the ring recently given that his next match versus Marcos Maidana is set in September.
With the arrangements moving along, Pacquiao's side has said that the proposed contracts are already in place in both camps involved. Arum adds that, aside from the division of profits, a few other issues have also been agreed upon, which includes the type of gloves to be used and the drug testing protocol to be followed.
