Bob Odenkirk and Vince Gilligan filmed and talked about the "Breaking Bad" spinoff "Better Call Saul" in Albuquerque, according to Variety.
During the shoot, Odenkirk revealed that he had second thoughts about doing the show since the location is far from his family and he did not want to be hailed as the "guy who screwed up the legacy of 'Breaking Bad'."
The actor shared a story about admitting his fears to his daughter who said "It's a big opportunity, we will be fine, and if it's bad, really, how bad could it be?"
Odenkirk replied that it will not be a bad show since Gilligan and Peter Gould wrote the script. It the show fails then he would be happy to be a part of it, according to New York Times.
The writer Gilligan also shared his journey in creating the spinoff saying that it only started as a joke.
"Sometimes you come up with characters, and you don't know how they're going to play. But very quickly with Bob playing Saul Goodman, we saw all kinds of possibilities," Gilligan said.
Odenkirk's character Saul Goodman in "Breaking Bad" was a criminal lawyer who was hired by the drug dealer Walter White. In "Better Call Saul," the show focuses on the lawyer's life six years before he met Walter, Daily Mail reported.
Saul's journey to become one of the best yet worst lawyers in town will be showcased in the spinoff. Viewers can witness him run after clients to generate income. At this time, the lawyer does not have an office and he has an old battered car. Saul looks up to his highly successful lawyer brother Chuck.
AMC President Charlie Collier proclaimed that he is invested in Gilligan and Gould's idea of a spinoff from the hit AMC show "Breaking Bad."
"Better Call Saul" will premiere in the US on February 8 on AMC.
