After shutting down the video streaming service being provided by The Popcorn Time and after a lawsuit being filed by the Motion Picture Association of America, reports surfaced that a new Popcorn Time has emerged.

Although developers cited internal problems, the MPAA was vocal about buying the Popcorn Time, along with its servers and portals. It was also reported that MPAA could bring down only of the fork of Popcorn Time, and that there were other developers managing other forks, like the Popcorn Time Community Edition, even at a time when the lawsuits were filed.

The first thing the developers did was fixing the .io fork, and sharing rapidly on Reddit. They also launched Popcorntime.ml, soon after the .io fork became popular due to its speed. This site provides users with guidelines on how the .io fork could be revived, and also on how to add the installer for getting better and bigger version of the Popcorn Time Community Edition.

Talking to Torrent Freak, the PTCE team explained how they have been able to take this project to greater development through creating a site that would provide exhaustive information about the Popcorn Time Community Edition.

Reports say that even though the PTCE team sounds dedicated in their attempt to bring back the Popcorn Time, their endeavor has suffered a setback with two of their developers deserting them in view of the initiative taken by BeschermingRechten Entertainment Industrie Nederland (BREIN), against anti-piracy. This has given rise to doubts about the progress by PTCE, which said "Instead of fighting this great software they should embrace it."
