Chinese tech giant Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. is reportedly planning to unveil two new wearable devices in 2016: a new version of the recently launched Huawei Watch, designed specifically for women, with the addition of a brand new second generation model that could support cellular connectivity.
The women's variant of the Huawei Watch could be unveiled during the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2016, which will take place in January, while the new model, on the other hand, could arrive in the market sometime by the second half of 2016.
The second-generation Huawei Watch is rumored to be in the works, according to 9To5Google. Like LG's Watch Urbane 2 LTE and Samsung's latest Gear S2 (3G), this model could support cellular connectivity as well, enabling users to make calls, send and receive text messages. As for the new women's variant, it is expected to sport more "feminine-looking" straps with a slightly modified circular design, and a more fashionable casing.
As of this time, the Chinese company hasn't confirmed anything yet, so these rumors should be taken with a grain of salt.
In the meantime, the Huawei Watch is considered to be one of the best-looking smartwatches available in the market. The watch sports a Cold-Forged 316L stainless steel body, and a 1.4-inch circular AMOLED display screen with a 400 x 400 pixel resolution. The display is also protected by a sapphire crystal glass material, according to Huawei.
Inside, it packs a Qualcomm MSM8926 Snapdragon 400, a Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7 CPU, an Adreno 305 graphics processing unit, 512MB of RAM, up to 4GB of internal memory storage, and a 300 mAh battery. Other specs include a 6-Axis motion sensor, a heart rate sensor, a barometer, and support for Bluetooth 4.1 and Wi-Fi connectivity.
