Many tech experts believe that the original Moto 360 was the smartwatch that skyrocketed the Android Wear platform into the mainstream consciousness. The recently released Moto 360 Sport, the third in the series, is going into a different direction and its features focus more as work-out and exercise companion.

Compared to the second generation Moto 360, not much was changed with the Moto 360 Sport. The two smartwatches have identical specs and price of $299, according to PC Mag. However, the Moto 360 Sport, as the name implies, works as a fitness companion and this feature helps it stand on top of other smartwatches that run on the Android Wear platform.

The Moto 360 Sport has a silicone strap which is rugged and at the same time comfortable. It has an IP67 rating which means it is not ideal for prolonged submersion to water.

The Moto 360 Sport has a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 chip with 512MB of internal memory and 4GB of storage space. Currently, the Moto 360 Sport, along with the Sony SmartWatch 3, are the only two Android Wear smartwatches that have built-in GPS.

The latest smartwatch from Motorola has 300mAh battery pack which has a battery life between 18 to 20 hours, depending on the degree of use.

According to Engadget, the best feature of the Moto 360 Sport is its the 1.37-inch, 360 x 325 hybrid screen. The display combines reflective panel and the more conventional LCD display to create vibrant and clear display even under direct sunlight. The display also uses AnyLight screen technology from Motorola which helps it in reflecting photos from direct sunlight.
