In the midseason finale episode of "Supergirl" season 1, Lucy helped her boyfriend James (Mehcad Brooks) and Kara find out who was responsible for hacking Cat's emails.

It was later on revealed that Winn (Jeremy Jordan) was the one behind Cat's hacked email account.

Here's a look at the episode's synopsis: "Kara does her best to support Winn when his father, the supervillain Toyman, breaks out of prison and seeks out his son for unknown reasons."

Meanwhile, Supergirl TV described Toyman as a "mad criminal genius." He also happens to be Winn's estranged father.

Toyman uses his powers by weaponizing toys to wreak destruction and revenge. One of his main goals is to find a way to reunite with his son.

During a recent interview, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg talked about Winn's relationship with his father.

"We've never really had this kind of relationship in any of our shows. I guess a little bit now, retroactively, with Thea on 'Arrow,' but Winn's father is evil. Winn's dad is a supervillain. Somebody who is dealing with that shame, humiliation, regret and emotion - Winn's been presented as a pretty happy go lucky, nice and sweet guy, but he came from a very dark place," he said.

"Supergirl" season 1 will return to CBS on Jan. 18, 2016 at 8 p.m. ET.
