"Supergirl" TV series will feature Astra invading National City in the midseason finale trailer and the status on the possible crossover with "The Flash".
The midseason finale trailer for "Supergirl" will feature Kara Zor-El/Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) stopping her evil aunt Astra (Laura Benanti) and her army of convicted Krytonians from invading National City. Astra returned at the end of episode 7 as she and her forces captured Kara for an unknown reasons, speculating they wanted her out of the way to conquer the city and the possibly the entire world.
The Department of Extranormal Operations are assigned to stop Astra from her impending takeover of National City as Hank Henshaw/Martian Manhunter (David Harewood) explains to Supergirl that the coming conflict could lead to an all-out war between humans and Kryptonians like her.
The midseason finale will also have a subpot for Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart) as an unknown hacker threatens to blackmail her and expose every dirty secret about her, if she does not remove herself as CEO of CatCo, CarterMatt reported.
Aside from the midseason finale, DC comics announced that "Supergirl" TV series will have its own digital comic. The news was discovered by someone from Bleeding Cool through a listing in Amazon and some of the issues will be connected to the TV series.
DC comics' decision on putting a digital-first comic for "Supergirl" was due to the show's rising popularity in CBS.
In other news, it seems that Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg revealed tha status of the rumored crossover between "Supergirl" and "The Flash" TV series.
According to Kreisberg, they still do not know if "The Flash" and "Supergirl" crossover could happen citing several legal issues and the challenge it represents. Co-producer Greg Berlanti told the press that the crossover on both shows will not happen anytime soon and CBS chairman Nina Tesslar stated the they are in different universes and networks, "The Flash" being in CW Network and "Supergirl" in CBS, TV Series Finale reported.
There are also rumors that Tom Welling's Superman will likely appear in "Supergirl" due Welling signing up for a new drama series for CBS. "Section 13".
"Supergirl" airs on Monday 8pm on CBS.
