It is not surprising that Adele's new album, "25," broke sales record globally because a number of buyers likely purchased more than one copy. It turns out that many buyers of the album in Britain also gave it away as a Christmas gift.

According to Daily Mail, Adele's album is the most popular Christmas gift for 2015. Globally, the 11-track album sold more than 8 million copies, of which 450,000 copies were purchased a week before Christmas. As a result, it topped the festive album chart for the fifth consecutive week, which includes CD sales, downloads and music streaming.

The week before that, "25" sold 825,000 copies, which placed the album on the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 for the fourth straight week, reports Vulture. Because of the high demand for the album, the website forecasts 1 million sales this week.

The only two other album on Amazon's top 10, at sixth place, are "If I Can Dream: Elvis Presley with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra" and "A Head Full of Dreams" by Coldplay in 10th spot. The eight other items on the list were either gadgets movies or games such as the 7-inch Fire tablet on second place, "Minions" on eighth place and "Star Wars: Battlefront" on ninth place.

Other popular gifts outside the top 10 are fragrances for women, retro sweets such as sherbet fountains and fruit salads, kitchen gadgets like spiralizers to create courgetti and sweet potato rice, GoPro action cameras and even traditional board games such as Scrabble and Monopoly.
