The family of late Singer Whitney Houston has come down heavily on the unauthorized Lifetime television biopic titled "Whitney," which premiered Saturday.

Pat Houston, sister-in-law and president of the Houston's estate, in a statement on the singers' official website, warned the viewers and fans of Houston to "brace themselves for the worst," referring to the Lifetime's television film "Whitney."

"Whitney," directed by Angela Bassett, who claims to have been a good friend of the singer, received mixed response.  Yaya DaCosta plays the character of Houston, and the film shows the volcanic relationship between her and singer-songwriter Bobby Brown, played by Arlen Escarpeta, just before her unexpected death at the age of 42 in February 2012.

Pat said in her statement that Lifetime did not seek permission from the family before making the film, and accused Bassett of misusing her friendship "to advance an agenda."

Pat, on behalf of the family, wrote in the website that the morality of the makers is questionable since they were not too familiar with Houston' life. Though it is not known who all had watched the film before, she mentioned that selected members in the family were denied the films' copy, reports Fox News.

The words of Pat were strong as she went on to say that as family, they were in a better position and authority to speak on her life. "This creative pursuit at the expense of the integrity of such an iconic woman, who is voiceless today, reeks of condemnation and deceit, concluded Pat.
