Quentin Tarantino was sued for alleged copyright infringment for his 2012 film "Django Unchained."
Oscar Colvin Jr. and Torrrance J. Colvin were the ones who filed the lawsuit against Tarantino, The Weinstein Company and Columbia Pictures. The Colvin brothers claimed that "Pulp Fiction" director Tarantino borrowed their screenplay titled "Freedom." In the suit of Colvins, are also defendants and they described their "Freedom" , as "uniquely original concept" and it was infringed by the "Kill Bill" director.
The amount of the penalty that Colvins' lawsuit seeks is $100 million according to The Wrap. The Weinstein Company and Columbia representatives have not yet given any statement about the alleged copyright infringement.
The suit was filed on Dec. 24, 2015. The suit also claims that the director is an "admitted thief" because of what he said to a magazine.
"I steal from every single movie ever made," he told the publication. If my work has anything, it's that I'm taking this from this and that from that and mixing them together."
Meawhile, Tarantino's "Hateful Eight," which was released on Dec. 7, 2015, won Best Movie at Capri Hollywood Film Festival. Aside from winning as best movie, actors of the flick such as Samuel Jackson, won Best Actor and Jennifer Jason Leigh won Best Supporting Actress.
The 53-year-old actress Leigh was previously struggled with recreating the sucess of her early career hit flick such as "Dolores Claiborne," "Georgia," "Backdraft," and "Single White Female," Daily Mail UK reported.
'The experience of being in one of Quentin's films and a part of this phenomenal cast was rewarding in and of itself, but to be honored by such an incredible institution as the Capri-Hollywood Film Festival makes it all the more meaningful,' she said after receving the award.
'I am flattered beyond words to be recognized by them this year,' she added.
