Attack on Titan Spoilers Alert: The battle for Shiganshina District is expected to reach boiling point in Chapter 77 of Shingeki No Kyojin, which is scheduled for release this week. Last month's chapter ended in a cliffhanger with former trooper Reiner Braun apparently in big trouble against the Survey Corps' newest weapon - the Thunderspear.
But did Erin and company really kill off Reiner in his Colossal Titan suit? Or Hajime Isayama has another intriguing plot twist waiting to be pulled out of his sleeves. Here are my predictions for Chapter 77 of the Attack on Titan based on several of Easter Eggs scattered across previous chapters.
Reiner survives Thunderspear attack and re-joins Survey Corps: Remember when the big bad Colossal Titan was on the brink of mental breakdown as he struggle to choose between his duty as a Warrior and the friendship he had with other Survey Corps member. This near-death experience might be an eye-opener for him to finally switch side and give humanity another hope to cling to.
But what really makes this upcoming chapter exciting is the possibility of a Levi vs. Ape Titan mano-y-mano showdown. Isayama has already given its readers an overdose of Erin vs. Reiner MMA match, that's why it will be refreshing to see Levi Ackerman, humanity's fiercest assassin, duking it out with the other group's General, the Ape Titan, who is considered the strongest and most experienced of all Titan Shifters introduced in the manga (remember when he obliterated Reiner without breaking a sweat?).
The feeling is a high that Chapter 77 will revolve around Levi's struggle against the Beast Titan. Will his speed and killer be enough to overcome the Titan's huge size and power advantage? Or maybe it will force him to use the ultimate equalizer: the Titan Serum given to him by his uncle Kenny Ackerman? Three days to go until release. I can't wait.
