Manchester United is reportedly on high alert over acquiring Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale for £75 million after reports went out that the Wales international is "intensely disappointed" by the sacking of former Los Blancos manager Rafael Benitez on Monday.
The Mirror reported that the "Premier League giants see Monday night's brutal axing of Rafa Benitez as an encouraging sign in their battle to pull off a record-breaking deal for Bale" as United is said to be currently preparing a £75 million bid to move the Welshman back to England.
However, newly-appointed Real manager Zinedine Zidane has publicly asserted that the 26-year-old Cardiff native "is not for sale" and is still a main part of the team's future.
Club president Florentino Perez also insisted that he is determined to make the 6-foot winger Cristiano Ronaldo's heir as the main man of the capital city squad.
Meanwhile, Red Devils executive Ed Woodward believes the English giants could pull off a deal for Bale as Real may be tempted to use the high payment to "rebuild their squad" this summer. He also thinks that the "managerial merry-go-round" is an encouraging sign of more changes to come in Madrid.
ESPN noted that Bale was "intensely disappointed" over the sacking of Benitez, whom he had an excellent work relationship.
The Wales captain thrived under Benitez's short stint, scoring nine times and garnering five assists in only 13 games so far in the season.
Perez reportedly said that if ever the club will sell Bale, it would be for around £150 million, twice as that of what United is willing to shell out.
