Reports have emerged on Saturday that Sao Paulo FC attacking midfielder Paul Henrique Ganso could be the next Brazilian footballer who will move to China in the near future.
Xinhuanet indicated that the 26-year-old Ananindeua, Brazil native was offered by top China League One (the country's second-tier association football league) club Hebei China Fortune "a monthly salary that is significantly higher than the 75,000 US dollars he currently earns" with his present Brazilian Serie A squad.
Ganso's contract with Sao Paulo is set to expire in September 2017, although he could choose to be transferred to another league as along as his release clause is recompensed.
China Fortune is keen on snagging Ganso and if the 6-foot winger accepts the offer, he would join compatriot Eduardo Gonçalves de Oliveira as another Brazilian in the team and at the same time he will become one of numerous South American footballers who are now playing in the Asian giant's football associations.
More than two weeks ago, Ganso's agent, Giuseppe Dioguardi, disclosed that his client was wooed by Italian Serie A squad SSC Napoli for €13 million ($14.1 million) a year ago, but the offer was turned down by the club, as reported by Sambafoot.
"Paulo Henrique Ganso has a contract until September 2017. He was wanted by other clubs, but Sao Paulo didn't want to open talks," revealed Dioguardi.
"There was Orlando City, and Paulo Henrique accepted, but Sao Paulo refused. Flamengo made an official proposal, but Aidar (former president) said he would ask a very high value, so that a business cannot happen. And there was the proposal from Napoli of €13m. Aidar said that Ganso was very important, but we know that he didn't agree with the price. And then there was that unfortunate phrase. After this statement, the leaders of Napoli told they didn't want more," the agent added.
