Recent rumors were out that Ghanaian midfielder Sulley Muntari is set to move to China and play for the country's top flight association football group, the Chinese Super League, as an unnamed club is reportedly offering substantial compensation for the veteran footballer.

The former Inter Milan and AC Milan standout is said to be "in talks with an unnamed Chinese Club" and could leave his current team, Saudi Arabia Premier League football club Ittihad FC, soonest, as reported by Ghana Web.

Muntari had been with Inter from 2008 to 2012 then moved to neighborhood team AC Milan from 2012 to 2015. He was then transferred to Ittihad in July last year on a €6 million fee where he just made 12 appearances so far for the Jeddah-based squad.

Meanwhile, Peace FM also confirmed reports that the 31-year-old Ghana international had "attracted interest from several Chinese Clubs who are battling for the signature of the former Inter Milan midfielder".

There were speculations that Muntari could join his Black Stars teammate and captain Asamoah Gyan to play for CSL's Shanghai SIPG FC, where the latter signed in July last year for an undisclosed amount.

Gyan is reportedly receiving wages of £227,000 per week, making him one of the world's best-paid footballers.

CSL teams had been adamant on their efforts to lure in more world-class talents this year as China aims to further develop the sport in the country.

Muntari, however, is presently "serving an indefinite suspension" from the Ghana national team following his altercation with former Ghana Football Association official Moses Armah Parker during the team's stint in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
