Harrison Ford's Crashed Plane

"Star Wars" Actor Harrison Ford was rushed to the hospital after sustaining injuries during a plane crash at 5:20 PM Eastern Standard Time today.

According to a report by NBC News, the "Indiana Jones" star's vintage World War II training plane crashed onto a California golf course while the actor was flying it. Initial reports state that the actor was flying solo at the time. There was no one else injured on the ground.

Authorities who responded to the scene described the 72-year-old actor as conscious and responsive when he was taken to the hospital, where he was listed as in fair to moderate condition. Witnesses stated that the actor appeared to have suffered head injuries.

Harrison's son, Ben tweeted that Ford was "Battered, but ok!" He further stated that the actor is an "incredibly strong man."

According to reports, the plane hit some tree branches and then crashed on to the Penmar Golf Course shortly after it took off.

This was not the first time Ford was involved in an air crash. The actor, an avid pilot of helicopters and airplanes, was also in a bad helicopter crash in 1999, during a training flight. In an interview dated 2008, the actor stated that he was luckily with another aviation professional and that neither of them were hurt.

Ford has been an active part of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. He also has had heavy involvement with the Experimental Aircraft Association.

As of press time, the National Transportation Safety Board is still conducting an investigation.
