‘The Sims 4’ gamers to receive special treats to commemorate game’s 17th anniversary

'The Sims 4' is a life-simulation game published by Electronic Arts.

Electronic Arts' popular life simulation game "The Sims" will soon reach an important milestone with its upcoming anniversary. To celebrate the momentous occasion, developers prepared several in-game treats, giveaways, a special Origin sale and other fun activities.

"The Sims" is set to celebrate its 17th year anniversary on Feb. 4, Saturday, with a week-long special event that will reward avid Simmers. In an announcement posted on the game's official website, game publisher Electronic Arts, as well as game developers Maxis and The Sims Studio, revealed some of the fun activities that they organized to commemorate the important milestone.

With a special anniversary week affair that includes the deployment of a free "The Sims 4" update on Feb. 2, Thursday, players can expect to see some menu changes and new items to the game. An in-game shirt for Sim characters of all ages will also be added that consists of a special design to celebrate the game's 17th birthday.

Moreover, game developers will also be giving away "The Sims 4" game codes for various DLCs, including the base game, in a daily Twitter raffle. Several creative and "great Simmers" from across the world will also be highlighted in a series of press releases to be published on the game's website.

Apart from the said anniversary activities, gamers can also expect to see new videos and interesting Twitch live streams during the weeklong event. A special discount for all "The Sims 4" titles on Origin will also be launched.

In other news, hidden game files found in "The Sims 4" December 2016 patch teased of a potential in-game event that will help boost a Sim character's relationship points. Dubbed the Triple Boost Week, the said week-long event will focus on increasing Sim relationships, both platonic and romantic, at a tripled rate, according to the fansite Sims VIP.

"The Sims 4" base game became available in various gaming markets in September 2014, with its recent "Vampires" game pack released on Jan. 24 for PC and Mac. Learn more about the game in the trailer below:
