Avid "The Sims 4" gamers may soon see another highly-requested Sim character returning to Electronic Arts' life simulation game. The recent game patch included hidden codes that teased of a potential Pets themed DLC.

When "The Sims 4" made its debut in 2014, several elements were missing from the base game that was present in previous "The Sims" installments such as toddlers, vampires and pets. Given the game developers' recent updates that added toddlers along with the upcoming release of a Vampires-themed expansion pack, many gamers are now looking forward to the potential inclusion of pets.

However, hidden game files included in patch updates 1.26.96.1010 and 1.26.96.1010 for PC and Mac, respectively, contained codes that refer to Pet Sims. Posted on the fansite Sims Community, the said game codes included "species" terminologies such as "cat," "dog" and "small dog."

For "The Sims 4" gamers hoping for Sim horses, game files related to character animations included codes for the said animal such as the action string "JumpOnObject." Despite the presence of the said animation codes for Sim horses, the game files referring to species and human/pet relationships did not include terminologies for the said creature.

It is still unclear if the absence of species codes for horses indicates the non-inclusion of the said animals in the speculated Pets themed DLC. Moreover, the game codes may still be incomplete given the developers' potential ongoing work on Pet Sims.

Meanwhile, neither Electronic Arts nor game developers Maxis and The Sims Studio have commented on the leaked game code news. However, a previous survey sent by Electronic Arts to several members of "The Sims" gaming community included feeler questions about Pet Sims.

In other news, Simmers recently enjoyed a big treat when the Toddler life stage was recently added to "The Sims 4." In an announcement posted on the game's official website, game developers mentioned how they have been trying to address some of the requests raised by avid fans that included toddler Sims.

Highlighting the toddler development activities that "The Sims 4" team made in the past years, the announcement also mentioned how developers worked hard to deliver a game update that "feels right for ... players."

"The Sims" toddler update was released on Jan. 12, Thursday for PC and Mac. Watch a teaser clip for the said update below:
