Apple is scheduled to unveil a new 4-inch iPhone, dubbed as the iPhone 5se and the iPad Air 3 at an event on March 15, and offer the devices to customers online on March 18. Incidentally, this time, the Cupertino tech titan is unlikely to accept preorders of the iPhone 5se and iPad Air 3 owing to the brief period between their announcements and launch.
While it is atypical for Apple to offer an iPhone directly for sale after its launch, the company is expecting large supplies of both the iPhone 5se and iPad Air 3, 9to5 Mac reported. Usually, Apple launches its iPhones about a couple of weeks after their launch.
This time, the company has adopted a different strategy, perhaps keeping in view the dwindling revenue from iPhone sales in the last quarter. However, it is expected that in the absence of preorders, Apple may possibly allow its customers place online orders for in-store pickup after the devices are launched in March.
As far as the exterior of the 4-inch iPhone 5se is concerned, the handset will have an appearance similar to that of the iPhone 5s. However, under the hood, it will have several specs of the iPhone 6s, which includes an A9 processor, Apple Pay as well as a high-resolution camera, Tech Radar reported.
If prevailing rumors are any indication, the iPad Air 3 will incorporate a number of design elements from the recently released iPad Pro. The new tablet will come with four speakers, Apple Pencil and a Smart Connector that will be compatible with iPad Air accessories. In terms of size, the iPad Air 3 is likely to identical to the iPad Air 2. In addition, the new tablet is also expected to incorporate a rear-facing flash.
In addition to the iPhone 5se and the iPad Air 3, it is expected that Apple will also introduce some new bands for the Apple Watch. Currently, Apple is testing software including WatchOS 2.2, iOS 9.3 and tvOS 9.2, which are expected to be unveiled soon after the March event. In September, Apple is expected to unveil its next-gen iPhones, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, along with the Apple Watch 2.
