Chinese mobile device users have grown tremendously. The population has reached more than a billion users in 2014, signifying a 231.7-percent leap from 2013. Such is a growth rate that no other country has ever achieved.
According to data released by TalkingData, a Beijing-based analytic company, the number of Chinese smartphone users grew in such a rate that surpasses the rest of the global market.
The report also showed that around 60 percent of smartphone users in the country are male. Those born after 1990 are the new driving force.
Aside from this information on the users, the report also showed that the number of Android users trumps the number of iOS users. Among the available Android devices, Samsung and Xiaomi phones are used the most.
The report also showed that majority of Android mobile users prefer China Mobile among all telecom brands. However, those who use the iOS platform prefer China Unicorn. Even though more are now starting to get on and use 4G networks, many are still using the Internet through WiFi connection.
The report revealed that mobile Internet is not limited to basic communication and social networking anymore. Apart from checking their social media accounts, many are starting to use their mobile Internet to do shopping and engage in other entertainment activities.
Social messaging apps remain the top downloaded and used mobile applications. Tencent-manufactured apps are also found to be the most popular. Of all the apps out there, "360 smartphone helper" was the most downloaded app for 2014.
