Not much has been heard about Bandai Namco's crossover game project to Capcom, titled "Tekken X Street Fighter," since it was announced in 2010 aside from concept arts and reassuring game enthusiasts that the title is indeed "under development."
Fans are eagerly waiting to experience a crossover gameplay with "Tekken X Street Fighter" game; however, according to PlayStation Life, Tekken 7's senior game designer Michael Murray confirmed during an interview with OPM UK that the game title is still in developmental stage.
"It's still in development, but as far as a release window we haven't really decided on that," Murray commented.
Murray's statement mirrors to what Bandai Namco's Katsuhiro Harada said in an interview with Famitsu in July 2015 that they are still actively working on "Tekken X Street Fighter." Harada even said "... but the bottom line is that we're at a very advanced stage into its development." "It may not seem like we haven't started development at all, but the character lineup has been finalized a long time ago, and we've already completed the in-game models, moves, and systems," he added.
Since the announcement was made almost 6 years ago, many have been anxious that "Tekken X Street Fighter" was already cancelled due to Bandai Namco focusing on other titles. It can be noted that after announcing "Tekken X Street Fighter," the developer worked on other game titles such as "Pokken Tournament," "Tekken 7" and PlayStation 4 VR's exclusive game "Summer Lesson."
With Bandai Namco working on "Tekken 7: Fated Retribution," it would be safe to suggest that the "Tekken X Street Fighter" development will be put off again in favor of "Fated Retribution."
For reference, "Tekken X Street Fighter" was unveiled in 2010, along with another crossover title "Street Fighter X Tekken." While "Tekken X Street Fighter" has yet to see the light of day, "Street Fighter X Tekken" has already been released in 2012 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation Vita, Microsoft Windows and iOS platforms.
On other news, "Tekken 7" console release is quite confusing as some say that the release might not be happening until 2017; however, other predictions indicate that the game title will be coming on PS4 and Xbox One by the end of 2016.
Let's just wait until we finally get some official announcement from Bandai Namco about "Tekken 7" console release and "Tekken X Street Fighter" release.
