Good news Autobot fanatics as "Transformers 5's" production is now in progress. The fifth installment of the Autobot series is scheduled to begin filming in May. Along with the "Age of Extinction" sequel's filming start date information, details on where the "Transformers 5's" filming location was also revealed.
According to the Michigan Film & Digital Media Office via Deadline, "Transformers 5" will begin filming in Detroit this summer, where it has filmed its previous "Transformers" installments. It was reported that there are some approved projects by the state that granted the studio a great tax incentive, in which, the company reassigned to fund "Transformers 5." Those projects approved by the state include "Looking for Alaska," which is based on the best-selling novel of john Green, and "Beverly Hills Cop IV."
Although there is no firm production start date or title for the fifth installment of "Transformers," Paramount announced two weeks ago that the cars turning into robot warriors' movie will premiere on June 23, 2017.
Meanwhile, according to Vine Report, the much-loved sidekick of Sam Witwicky, played by Shia LaBeouf, Bumblebee will have its own spin-off movie after "Transformers 5" release. The yellow car Bumblebee is said to be among of the favorite Autobot in "Transformers" franchise, which has been Witwicky's sidekick in the first three films of "Transformers." The Bumblebee spin-off movie is slated to premiere on June 8, 2018, and will be sandwiched between "Transformers 5" and another standalone movie that is expected to premiere on June 28, 2019.
Paramount Pictures chairman Brad Grey even told to Hollywood Reporter that there are "Transformers" characters that are worthy to have their own movies.
On other news, Michael Bay, who has directed all previous "Transformers" movie, stated that "Transformers 5" will be the last film of the multi-billion franchise that he will be directing. He added that he should pass the position to other directors and it was time for him to move on from the project after the fifth installment.
Aside from Bay, Robert Kirkman and Akiva Goldsman will no longer involved with "Transformers 5" due to busy schedules for other projects. "Transformers 5's" filmmakers roped in Ken Nolan, Art Marcum and Matt Holloway to write the script for the fifth installment of "Transformers." Nolan was associated before in writing the script of "Black Hawk Down," while Holloway and Marcum worked in another popular franchise "Iron Man."
