"Vikings" season 4 returns with an all-new episode next Thursday, March 31 titled "The Profit and the Loss." Episode 7 will reportedly focus on King Ecbert's (Linus Roache) plan to take over Mercia while Aethelwulf is away on a pilgrimage with Prince Alfred.
In the last episode, King Ecbert revealed that Prince Alfred will be taking a spiritual journey to Rome. Entertainment Weekly pointed out that since Aethelwulf (Moe Dunford) will be going with the Prince, this may just be the beginning of the takeover to Mercia.
While King Ecbert may believe that this will be good for his grandson, as he may be able to meet the Pope and see the Vatican, taking Aethelwulf with him will definitely pose some problems. The pilgrimage can reportedly take up to months. Without Aethelwulf to protect Kwenthrith and her kingdom Mercia, things can only get worse from here.
According to the official synopsis for "Vikings" season 4, episode 7, the Vikings will once again try to break Rollo's (Clive Standen) defenses. In the last episode, King Harald (Peter Franzen) burned the captured Franks in an attempt to show their enemies how strong the Vikings can be. This bold action clearly threw off the Emperor (Lothaire Bluteau) and began to beg Rollo against betraying Paris.
The face off between Rollo and Ragnar (Travis Fimmel) will definitely be one exciting episode to look forward to. Carter Matt pointed out that it will only be a matter of time before we see a big battle between the Vikings and Paris. Although Rollo has already promised the king that he will not betray Paris, the outlet speculated that he may eventually change his mind once he see his brother again.
"It was interesting to see Rollo pledge his allegiance to the king that he will not betray him when he sees Ragnar, but it could be quite different when we see the two brothers face to face again. We haven't seen Ragnar and Rollo speak yet, but Rollo looks like he's standing strongly with Paris."
"Vikings" season 4 episode 7, "The Profit and the Loss" airs Thursday, March 31 on the History channel.
