Although there is a current divide with "Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice" between fans and critics, there is no doubt about the excitement on DC's next offering in the big screens with "Suicide Squad."
Nefarious DC villains from the comics will come to life in "Suicide Squad." However, despite the potentially dark material, the film is set for a PG-13 viewership.
As early as 2015, much has been said about the upcoming film and the studio has constantly teased what its characters are all about. The first trailer was released in 2015 at the San Diego Comic Con. Now, a new trailer has been released featuring the film's anti-hero ensemble.
With Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" playing on the background, the trailer gives a sneak peak of the mayhem that is about to go down in the film. It is also more Joker-centric than the previous trailer. Director David Ayer dubs Jared Leto's character as "the king of planet Joker", Screen Rant reported.
Leto's Joker is prominently featured in the video with a dark tongue and cheek approach coupled with action-packed sequences for the rest of the cast.
Everyone seems to be pumped about the film given the positive reviews and praises for the casts' acting chops. In fact, actor Adam Beach who plays Slipnot in the film, hinted that the actors gave their all to their respective roles given that they had a therapist on the set while taping, E! Online reported.
Aside from Leto and Beach, "Suicide Squad" also stars Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Adewale Akinnouye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Will Smith as Deadshot, Cara Delivingne as the Enchantress and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller.
"Suicide Squad" is the name given to Task Force X, an elite team of supervillains assembled on behalf of the U.S. government to carry out black ops missions in exchange for reduced sentences. The film is based on the comic book written by John Ostrander.
