Network carrier AT&T is finally rolling out the Android Marshmallow update for Samsung Galaxy S6. It is the last network carrier of the United States to do so, following in the footsteps of T-Mobile, US Cellular, Sprint and Verizon.
AT&T is rolling out the Android Marshmallow update for the device in a phased manner. The users can check their device to see, if they are prompted for an operating system update or not. To do so, they need to go to Settings> About Device> Software Update.
When prompted for the operating system update, they need to download it via a reliable and unmetered Wi-Fi connection, to save on data charges. Samsung Galaxy S6 needs to be connected to a power source, in case the battery levels are low for an uninterrupted download.
Verizon was the first network carrier to rollout the update for the Galaxy S6. Later, Sprint, T-Mobile and US Cellular started the rollout of the Android Marshmallow update for the device. Samsung Galaxy S6 and its numerous variants are confirmed to receive the update on Samung's official list, according to GSM Arena.
In Korea, the rollout of the Android Marshmallow update for Samsung Galaxy S6 started while many countries, including the U.S., Russia, Austria, India, Iraq and the United Kingdom, are receiving the update. Other countries in line for the update, include Czech Republic, Spain, Germany, Nigeria, Croatia, Afghanistan and Macedonia.
Even the Canadian network carriers Eastlink, VideoTron, Bell and Telus have started the Android Marshmallow rollout for all the users of Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge and S6 Edge Plus. The update process will conclude by the end of May for all these devices.
Android Marshmallow has incorporated many minor and major changes in the software. They include vertical menu options, and the addition of a search bar in the menu options. The inclusion of a search bar helps the user to directly go to the app, which they want to use, according to BGR.
