Existence of the Sony PlayStation NEO or the PlayStation 4.5 might have just been confirmed by a French video games distributor which slipped in their press release.

Up until now, there have been no official announcements from Sony regarding the upcoming upgraded version of their PlayStation 4 codenamed NEO or the PlayStation 4K. However, the financial results report from Innelec Multimedia have accidentally dropped the bomb and could have confirmed its existence.

Some of the details that everyone knows about the upcoming console is that it would be more powerful than its predecessor and it will coexist alongside the current gen consoles. It will be able to run new games at a stable 60 frames per second.

The press release from Innelec's FY16 results mention that the PS4 from Sony will have a so-called "evolution" and that would be the PlayStation NEO 4K, Videogamer has learned. It has also said that the new console would be released within the first half of the fiscal year.

Fans are now waiting for the official release date which can run between May up to September 2016. That would put the PlayStation 4.5's release before the highly-anticipated PS VR headset from Sony.

What makes the new console powerful is that it will have a more powerful CPU and higher memory bandwidth. It will also support games to run at 4K resolution hence the codename.

Several hours after the supposed leak of the new information regarding the PlayStation NEO or the PlayStation 4.5, Innelec has issued a statement that it denies any official information regarding the console. The company said that they have no further information regarding the new console, Neowin reported.

Despite the backflip on the press release, the fact that they have mentioned the console in the first place means that it does exist. In addition, it could be one of Sony's sneaky ways to tease fans about their new console.

The PlayStation NEO 4K or the PlayStation 4.5 could be expected to be released on or before October 2016 if the report is correct. Fans who wish to buy the more powerful console would need to save up money to be ready.
