Meng Jia, widely known as Jia, will no longer be part of the South Korean-Chinese girl group Miss A. On Friday, April 20, JYP Entertainment, which handles the career of the girl group, confirmed the news.
The entertainment label confirmed the good news through a press statement released to different local media groups. It advises the mass public about the contract of miss A members - Jia and Wang Feifei aka Fei.
"Jia's contract with JYP Entertainment has come to an end as of May 20," a JYP Entertainment's press release statement cited by Soompi reads. "We genuinely support Jia, who has spent a long time with JYP Entertainment, and hope that her future will be even brighter."
Although there was no accurate reason given behind Jia's departure from the giant company, it is said that the rapper will reportedly pursue her acting career in mainland China upon leaving Miss A This leaves Miss A's with only three band members, namely Suzy Bae, Fei, and Lee Min Young aka Min.
Miss A's Fei, on the other hand, renewed her contract with JYP Entertainment. She will continue her beforehand arranged activities in South Korea and mainland China, while Suzy Bae and Min's contract are set to expire in 2017. It remains to be seen whether Suzy Bae and Min will renew their contract as well.
Further, the released statement reassures fans worldwide that the group will not be disbanded, stating that it is only Jia that is leaving the group. The remaining three members will seemingly concentrate on individual activities from now on, particularly now that there are no any plans for a comeback activities or album.
While some fans are relieved with the statement, numerous avid fans still cannot help but stressed that it really seems like miss A is disbanding and pointed the finger at JYP Entertainment for their alleged poor handling of such an astonishing girl group. Some fans stressed that the label should promote the group significantly more given this circumstance.
Miss A made their official debut in South Korea, as a four-member girl group on July 1, 2010, with the released of their single called "Bad Girl Good Girl." From that point forward, the girl group has won 23 musical awards and four nominations in numerous music awards/festival both inside and outside South Korea, All K-pop reported.
