After the heartbreaking merciless killing of Hodor in last episode, "Game of Thrones" Season 6 episode 6 showed the rise of religion in the power game. The episode, titled "Blood of my Blood," focused on High Sparrow's move along with reunion of Sam (Jonathan Bradley) with his family and Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) with his long lost uncle.
As the episode begins, Bran and Meera (Ellie Kendrick) are seen still followed by wights when a mysterious rider appears out of nowhere to scoop the pair up onto his horse for a quick escape. The rider later turns out to be Benjen Stark (Joseph Mawle), Ned Stark's younger brother, who was last seen in Season 1 heading towards north of the wall to investigate rumors of wildlings and White Walker activity. It turns out that Benjen, who was considered dead, was actually rescued by the Children of the Forest after being stabbed by a White Walker.
At Tarly estate, Sam (Jonathan Bradley) takes Gilly (Hannah Murray) and the child to meet the parents. The family sits for dinner where Randyll verbally abused the former for still being "soft and fat." Randyll goes on a racist rant targeting Gilly after which Sam claims his father's sword, Heartsbane, and takes his family away.
Back in Braavos, Arya watches last week's play once again, depicting the purple wedding scene this time. She sneaks backstage to poison the older actress's (Essie Davis) wine when she is spotted by her intended victim, who has noticed Arya's stalking in the crowd and pegs her as a nutty fangirl. Arya later saves the actress by snatching the wine from the actress's hand while the act of bailing out of her mission is watched by Waif (Faye Marsay) who in turn seeks permission from Jaqen to kill Arya.
In King's Landing, Tommen Baratheon (Dean-Charles Chapman) finally got to meet Margaery Tyrell (Natalie Dormer) who in turn converts him to the faith. When Jamie (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and the Tyrell forces assemble outside the sept and demand the release of Margery and Ser Loras, it appears first that High Sparrow has caved in to Jamie's threat of force. To his parents' disappointment, Tommen (Dean-Charles Chapman) announced a holy alliance between the crown the faith, much to the rejoice of the commoners.
Tommen orders Jamie to take back Riverrun. While Jamie ponders over how to save their only child with Cersie (Lena Headey), the latter seduces him and urges him not to fight Tommen's decision.
In Vaes Dothrak, Danaerys (Emilia Clarke), tries to unite the Khalasars by promising them not peace, but a mission when one of her three drogons returns. In a maximally epic scene, Khaleesi sits on the drogon's back and gave a powerful speech, giving a glimpse of power-hungry person she is likely to turn into very soon.
