Samsung is renaming the Galaxy Note 6 to the Galaxy Note 7 which is now reportedly featuring the company's own Iris scanner as a new screenshot from the Galaxy Beta program surfaces.
The rumor of the Samsung Iris scanner technology for the Galaxy Note 7 has been going around for quite some time now. It started when the South Korean tech company was spotted with the patent for Samsung Iris and Samsung Eyeprint.
Now, the speculations seem to be true as more evidence that suggests its existence has surfaced. One screenshot from a software via the Galaxy Beta program shows one interesting option inside the settings screen.
When translated into English, the phrase reads "Use Iris" which more or less confirms the scanner rumors for the new phablet. Another evidence is that PriceRaja.com spotted 200 Iris scanners imported into India which could be for the Galaxy Note 7, CNET has learned.
The new Galaxy Note 6 would then allow its users to quickly unlock the device or to authorize apps by simply looking at the scanner. Typing in a password can take longer and mistakes can occur.
In addition, passwords can be quickly stolen in a glance. Fingerprint sensors do work but there have been several methods available that could allow a skilled person to copy the fingerprint.
Besides the Iris scanner, the Galaxy Note 7 would also have the S-Pen stylus. The device will also include the new 6GB LPDDR4 RAM and a massive 4000mAh battery, Pocket-lint reported.
Other specs include the 5.8-inch QHD AMOLED screen and Android 6.0 Marshmallow out f the box. Earlier rumors of the 4K screen has not been corroborated.
Samsung recently unveiled their new Bio Blue screen technology which could reach up to 4K in resolution. It was originally thought that the Galaxy Note 6 would be the first device to feature the screen but its foldability means that it will be sported by the rumored Galaxy X for 2017 to join the Galaxy S8.
The Galaxy Note 6 or Galaxy Note 7 is expected to be finally revealed at an upcoming event by Samsung on August 2. Specs and features such as the 6GB RAM and the Iris scanner would be confirmed or denied.
