The anticipation for MBC's "W" is slowly building, particularly now that the MBC just released an exciting teaser image for the upcoming fantasy-thriller drama. South Korean actor Lee Jong Suk is making fangirls' knees weak with his suave-invigorating image stills from his upcoming Wednesdays-Thursdays drama, "W".
The picture, released by MBC today (June 10), gave fans a first look at Lee's character in the series. In the photos, Lee looks handsome and dapper as ever, while sporting a white tee. Having been the first candidate for the role, it is apparent that Lee portrays his character seamlessly. Adding on, Lee wowed everyone when he wore a fitted suit inside an expensive car.
Lee, who catapulted to international fame after starring in SBS's "Pinocchio" (2014), is set to play the role of a self-made chaebol, Kang Chul, who is a former Olympic gold medalist. It is said that Kang then surprises the public with a drastic change in his career path when he opted to study computer science.
Not long after he graduated, Kang Chul found a venture company and succeeds. He is now a young chaebol who have an asset worth of around 800 billion won (approximately $690 million) and the founder of a start-up company with a market cost of 1.5 trillion won ($1.8 billion), Soompi has learned.
"W" is written by Song Jae Jung and directed by Jung Dae Yoon. The upcoming show is described as a romantic suspense melodrama that is set across different dimensions in Seoul - crossing between reality and virtual reality. Lee will be acting with actress Han Hyo Joo, who was cast as Oh Yeon Joo, an elite surgeon whose father is a well-known comic book creator.
"Lee Jong Suk is devoting all of his energy into his acting, so much so that you can only think of Kang Chul when you see him," a representative from the drama's production company told Korea's Naver TV, while complimenting the actor's diligent work. "Please look forward to the charming Kang Chul character Lee Jong Suk has created while sweating in the hot weather."
The drama series also stars actress Jeong Eu Gene as Yoon So Hee, Lee Si Un as Park Soo Bong, Kang Ki Young as Kang Suk Bum, Lee Tae Hwan as Seo Do Yoon and more. "W" will air its first episode on Aug. 4 at 10:00 P.M. EST.
