Many fans expected that Square Enix will reveal the much awaited "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" during the recently concluded Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016. However, the game developer did not give any update about the upcoming game, and now rumors are rife that fans should expect the first episode in 2017.
Previous reports indicated that "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" would have a different format as compared to the original "Final Fantasy VII" game. The game producer, Yoshinori Kitase, previously teased that the developer would be launching the remake episodically. The producer added that the story of the remake would be divided into multiple games.
Kitase, who as well worked on the original game, said that the company would follow the approach of "Final Fantasy XIII." This game was released in three episodes.
In an interview with Gamespot, Kitase said, "It will essentially be a full scale game for each part of the multi-part series. In 'XIII,' each instalment told the story from a different angle. It was kind of like approaching an unknown territory in a sense. Whereas with 'Final Fantasy VII Remake,' we already have a preexisting story, so it wouldn't really make sense if that isn't encompassed in a multi-part series."
If Square Enix is to consider each part of the upcoming remake, one part should be to the scale of one "Final Fantasy XIII" game. The producer teased that the upcoming "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" would be revamped, but he emphasized that it would not lose the original feel and essence.
Meanwhile, developers at Square Enix are quite preoccupied now, but it is certain that there will be room for the much-rumored remake, according to Square Enix official blog. "Final Fantasy XV" is slated for a release in September, and therefore, apart from "Final Fantasy 7 Remake," Square Enix might focus on other popular titles such as "Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age" and "Kingdom Hearts III."
"Final Fantasy 7 Remake" will release exclusively for PS4. Here is footage for further details on the upcoming remake:
