Kristofer Hivju, 37, will be part of the cast of "Justice League," an upcoming film based on the DC Comics superhero team of the same name. The Norwegian actor is known for his role as the Wilding leader named Tormund Giantsbane in the HBO fantasy series "Game of Thrones."
Hivju, who made his mark as fan favorite Brienne of Tarth's not-so-secret admirer, will play an ancient Atlantean King in "Justice League," IGN reported. His character most likely possesses one of the tree Mother Boxes, which have wondrous powers and abilities ranging from teleportation to energy manipulation.
Hivyu was said to be particularly used in a concept art displayed on the wall of "Justice League's" production office in London on June 17. His character in the film is expected to appear in a flashback sequence, which particularly shows the Atlanteans hiding one of the three Mother Boxes.
Among Hivyu's "Justice League" co-actors are Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Amy Adams, Jason Momoa, J.K. Simmons, Henry Cavill, Willem Dafoe and Amber Heard. The film is directed by Zack Synder with a screenplay by Chris Terrio. Charles Roven and Deborah Synder are set to produce.
"Justice League" depicts the formation of the Justice League of America, an association made up of the world's most prominent superheroes, Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and The Flash. The film is scheduled to be released on Nov. 17, 2017.
Meanwhile, Hivju will be making his next big screen appearance in "Fast 8," an upcoming action film directed by F. Gary Gray. He will play Cipher's (Charlize Theron) henchman in the film, along with "Game of Thrones" co-star Nathalie Emmanuel.
"It feels like I'm coming into a known universe because I've been following it for almost 20 years!" Hivju told Yahoo! Movies. "The script is so crazy and filled with such heart and soul and guts and ambition. It's gonna be quite a ride."
