Actor Seo In-Guk is taking on another acting gig. Most recent reports claimed that the 28-year-old singer-turned-actor is slated to headline MBC's new drama, "Shopping King Louise" (working title).
The actor's agency, Jellyfish Entertainment, confirmed to All K-Pop that Seo has been cast for the lead male role in MBC's Wednesday-Thursday drama.
"Seo In Guk recently received the offer for the lead role in MBC's 'Shopping King Louie'," an unnamed representative said. "We are currently in the final stages of negotiating terms and conditions."
"Shopping King Louise" follows an amnesiac chaebol heir, Kang Ji Sung, who attempts to reclaim his true identity. The drama comes from the creativity of director Lee Sang-Yeon, with a script penned by Oh Ji Young.
In the drama, Seo will play the last surviving grand-heir to a chaebol chairman, Kang Ji Sung aka Louie, who grows up alone and uncontrolled in the United States in the wake of losing both of his parents in a car accident. Seo's character is described as a flower boy youth in a greenhouse.
Kang Ji Sung, by one means or another, ends up going from California to Seoul, South Korea and loses his memories. He then meets Ko Bok Sil (Nam Ji Hyun), a sweet clodhopper with a heart like an angel, Drama Beans has learned.
The publication notes that actor Yoon Sang Hyun, 42, has been given a role as Seo's rival, a department director in the chaebol conglomerate. It is said that Yoon's character will also fall in love with Ko Bok Sil, which triggers a confrontation between the two male leads.
Although nothing is set in stone yet, it was learned that the forthcoming drama series will take over the MBC Wednesdays-Thursdays 10:00 PM (KST) time slot, right after "W" ends it runs. More details about the drama will be revealed soon.
Meanwhile, Seo is currently starring as a professional swindler named Yang Jeong Do in OCN's new Friday-Saturday drama called "38 Revenue Collection Unit." The 16-episode drama, which also stars Ma Dong Seok and Sooyoung, follows the task force chief of Seoul City Hall and an extortionist, who work together to collect unpaid taxes.
