2PM's Taecyeon, 27, announced at the press conference for tvN's "Let's Fight Ghost" that the drama would be his last project before he goes into his two-year mandatory military service. In the tvN's new Monday-Tuesday drama, the singer-turned-actor will play the exorcist named Park Bong Pal.
Taecyeon, who debuted as an actor in 2010's "Cinderella's Sister," is already in the age bracket of those who are required to serve the military for two years. Add that to his wide fan base and tremendous popularity, numerous fans are always on the edge that he may enroll son and be away from the spotlight for some time.
At the press conference of the new drama "Let's Fight Ghost" held earlier this week in Seoul, South Korea, Taecyeon revealed he will have "Let's Fight Ghost" as his last drama project before he goes to the army.
"I think of 'Let's Fight Ghost' as my last project before I enlist in the army next year," Taecyeon revealed, as quoted by All K-pop. "[And] I am working very diligently on filming. Please look forward [to the drama]."
The upcoming drama, which also stars actress Kim So-Hyun, is the work of PD Park Joon Hwa and screenwriter Lee Dae-II. It is based on Im In-Seu's popular webcomic called "Ssawooja Gwishina."
The drama portrays the unique story of a wandering ghost named Hyun Ji (Kim) and exorcist Park Bong Pal (Taecyeon), who beings living under the same roof and perform several exorcisms together, trying to help a slew of ghosts to go into the afterlife. Although Taecyeon plays an exorcist in the drama, the idol-actor revealed that he is actually frightened of ghosts.
"In reality, I'm afraid of ghosts," Taecyeon revealed. "There are many people who dress up as ghosts [in the drama]. I can't even stare at them as they are getting their makeup done. I scream for real [in fright] in the drama."
The drama also stars Kang Ki Young, Lee David, Kim Sang Ho and Kwon Yul, Drama Beans reported. "Let's Fight Ghost" will start airing on tvN on July 11, 11:00 PM (KST). Check out the trailer below:
