New "Overwatch" details will reveal a new character announcement at SDCC 2016 and sudden death featured to be removed in "Competitive Mode" season 2.

Blizzard Entertainment launched a new patch update for "Overwatch" this week for the PC platform as it wil address some of the in-game bugs and issues that plagued the game in "Competitive Mode". These fixes include the duration of sudden death in several areas in the game such as Hanamura, Dorado, King's Row etc. in three different categories; Assault, Escort and Hybrid.

There are also general fixes in the "Overwatch" patch update such as a bug preventing playing the game's background music during Escort and Assault missions. A bug on the display settings are not always saved after restarting the client. An issue that sometimes caused the in-game UI to display incorrectly at 4k resolutions and a wrong player level would appear in the Social menu.

Four characters are also fixed in "Overwatch's" new patch update such as Reaper, Mercy, Winston and Zarya. Other fixes include skill rating display, unintentional leave penalty when rejoining the game and an incorrect "Top 500" display within the game.

Aside from the new patch fix, game designer Scott Mercer confirmed that the sudden death rules of "Competitive Mode" will be removed in season 2 in favor of tie-breakers due to several gamers complaining about it being unfair, PC Gamer reported.

Game director Jeff Kaplan stated that they will have a hard look at the sudden death features in "Competitive Mode" in season 1 and will re-assess the game mode's development changes. Mercer understood what the fans wanted and will likely implement the concept of "ties" within "Overwatch".

In other news, Blizzard will be announcing a new character for "Overwatch" at this year's San Diego Comic Con event on July 21.

According to a post from DVSGaming.org, the new character will be a sniper support type and it is hinted that it could be Pharah's mother Ana Mari code named: Sombra. The weapon designs for the character have been revealed as a prototype bionic rifle developed by both Torbjorn and Mercy.

Sombra in the game is one of the founders of "Overwatch" during the Omnic Crisis and fought alongside Jack Morrison/Soldier:76, Gabriel Reyes/Reaper, Ana Amari, Torbjorn and Reinhardt. Sombra is said to be a "support sniper" with a "masked" motif similar to Soldier: 76 and Reaper and was originally part of the initial roster, but Blizzard removed that character before its supposed launch date.

"Overwatch" is currently available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC platforms.
