Released on Oct. 29, 2013, "The Monster" is one of the four collaboration songs by Eminem and Rihanna. It was co-written by the Eminem, Jon Bellion and Bebe Rexha, who recently shared some details about the song.
In a recent interview with Noisey, Rexha was asked how "The Monster" ended up becoming an Eminem song. She said that she just writes and she never thinks about who the song is for.
On the other hand, Rexha said people do not believe her when she says she told the producer "The Monster" would be a perfect Eminem song when she first wrote it. She said the producer shushed her and told her they should finish writing the verses.
After finishing the verses, Rexha wanted to keep the song for herself, she revealed. But the producer at the time told her somebody from Shady Records had walked into the studio, heard the song and wanted it for Eminem.
"Things like that can and do happen but being a smarter, more experienced writer now, I think what actually happened is he sent the track over to Eminem's people because I had put the idea in his head," Rexha pointed out. "But at the time, I probably would have killed the producer if he'd told me that, because it was my song, you know?
"The Monster" was included in Eminem's eighth studio album titled "The Marshall Mathers LP." Aside from the United States, the song topped the charts in other countries including the United Kingdom, Switzerland, New Zealand, Ireland, Australia, Canada and France.
Rihanna and Eminem have yet to record a collaboration song again after "The Monster." The former released her eighth studio album titled "Anti" in January while fans are still awaiting the release of the ninth studio album of the latter.
On July 11, Monday, Rihanna performed an "Anti World Tour" concert at the Pala Alpitour Arena in Turin, Italy. During the concert, she received a crown from the audience, which she gladly wore, Direct Lyrics has learned.
