The latest details for "Injustice 2" will feature two new DC characters this week and a possible guest fighter added to the roster soon.
"Mortal Kombat" creator Ed Boon tweeted an announcement that two new DC characters added to "Injustice 2" will be revealed during a panel session at San Diego Comic Con event on July 22 at 12:30-1:30 pm. Boon previously teased comic book and gaming fans alike that they should looked into two DC comic book storylines such as "The Killing Joke" and "Flashpoint" arcs.
"The Killing Joke" will likely feature two characters from the Batman mythos, The Joker and Barbara Gordon/Batgirl who were playable characters in the first "Injustice" game. "Flashpoint" on the other hand, could reveal a number of key characters such as The Flash, Reverse-Flash, Cyborg, Shazam, Wonder Woman, Booster Gold etc. since it is a major DC comics story arc.
Captain Gold, Blue Beetle, Swamp Thing and Doctor Fate are some of the characters that Boon teased for "Injustice 2", while fans are also active in pitching their own pick for the sequel citing the likes Black Canary, Vixen, Zoom, Deadshot, Lady Shiva, Matter-Eater Lad, Grail, Zoom, Superwoman and Doctor Manhattan, Nerdist reported.
In other news, NetherRealm Studios will likely plan to have a guest fighter in "Injustice 2" as Boon told Game Informer that there is a certain novelty into it and there is a certain amount of people who think that when they see a guest character that it took the slot of a DC character that they wanted to have.
Boon cited Scorpion's guest appearance in the first "Injustice", which became the most downloaded character of them all, not to mention the popularity of Alien and Predator inn"Mortal Kombat X" which made the game more interesting.
The playable characters in "Injustice 2" includes Superman, Batman, Supergirl, Aquaman, Atrocitus and Gorilla Grodd.There will be also a new armor system that enables gamers to upgrade the appearance and abilities of their chosen character as they must fight in order to unlock new loots and armor sets.
The plot of "Injustice 2" will take place after the first game as Batman tries to rebuild the world after Superman's One Earth Regime,while at the same time stopping the Man of Steel's loyalist in breaking him out of his Red Sun prison, unaware that an even greater threat is coming to earth.
NetherRealm Studios has not yet announced an official release date for "Injustice 2" for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but it is speculated to launch on March 2017.
